Ya, TV is cool, but have you tried reading?
Support opportunity for NYC public elementary school children whose literacy progress was completely screwed up by COVID.
Thanksgiving is over which means the biggest holiday of the year is upon us! By this of course I mean #givingtuesday, the only holiday that celebrates a current use of hashtags that’s not totally lame (but also, a day for donating, volunteering, and generally being a good person. To that end, please consider donating to Read Ahead today to help improve and support literacy and mentorship in NYC’s brutally under-resourced public elementary schools. Details below:Â
What:Â Reading-based mentoring program to develop the social-economic skills for academic and future success. Children benefit enormously from having safe, capable, adults dedicate time to help and encourage them to read (the money will go towards background checks and training for new volunteers, among other things like functional computers and headphones for the Zoom reading sessions).Â
Impact: Thanks in no small part to COVID, currently less than 50% of NYC public school elementary children read at grade level. Let’s change that. We are on a mission to raise $100,000 by #GivingTuesday (tomorrow!) so that even more NYC kids can participate in Read Ahead and become confident, joyful readers.

Every child deserves a great story. This hashtag Giving Tuesday, let's help them write it (or in this case, read it).Â
Cool, thanks! Now back to what you were doing — your shows won’t watch themselves!
